Painterly Monoprint & Book Assemblage Weekend Course

Tutor Áine Finnegan will first introduce the process of Monoprint. Monoprint is a printmaking process that incorporates a number of different techniques,
and its simplicity and the spontaneity with which you can experiment and create prints makes it a really attractive option for creatives of all types.
Monoprint is an ideal introduction to printmaking,
particularly for those already familiar with painting and anyone who loves to play with making.

On the first day of the course, tutor Suzannah O Reilly will guide you through the expressive and versatile world of monoprinting. Monoprint is a printmaking process that incorporates several different techniques. Monoprinting combines spontaneity with simplicity, making it an intuitive and attractive technique for artists of all levels. Whether you’re curious about printmaking or have experience in painting or mixed media, mono-printing allows you to experiment, play, and produce a series of one-of-a-kind prints. These prints will form the foundation for the book assemblage aspect of the course.

On the second day of the course tutor Suzannah O Reilly will teach a variety of book assemblages including Flexicon according book format and Origami star book. The prints created the previous day will be incorporated into these assemblages along with any other materials the participants want to use. We would encourage everyone to bring drawings, photographs and prints they may have previously made that they would like to consider including in their book assemblages.

This two-day course encourages experimentation through exploring multiple techniques that combine 2D & 3D work. Participants will develop a range of skills with full support
of LP tutors Suzannah O’ Reilly and Áine Finnegan and will create a selection of work over the weekend.

All material costs are included in the course fee.

This two day course runs on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June from 10am to 5pm.
