Limerick Museum will host the official opening of an Exhibition of Art Works by Geraldine Sadlier and Brian McMahon.
Geraldine Sadlier was born in Limerick, Ireland. Educated at the Salesian Convent Fernbank, she graduated from the Limerick School of Art and Design. She has been living in Nice for the last 12 years and regularly returns to her native city Limerick. Geraldine’s work is done outdoors in the area where she lives (Nice, Villefranche sur mer, Beaulieu sur mer, Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat, Eze Village, Monaco, Menton) as well as in Ireland. Her paintings and drawings have been exhibited in France and in Ireland and can be viewed all year round in her gallery in Nice, 5 Place Saint François.
Brian Mac Mahon is a well-known Limerick artist who studied at Limerick School of Art from 1973 to 1977. After moving to Dublin in 1979, he quickly developed a reputation as a portrait painter which led to a number of exhibition opportunities and solo shows. Brian moved back to Limerick in 1998. He has a studio in Limerick, lives near the city and takes every opportunity to explore new vistas around the country. His paintings represents colour on a large scale and he mixes light and mood with bold convincing colours in his landscapes, portraits and interiors. Colour predominates his work and the subject emerges from the painting, shocking in its accuracy.
Dr Matthew Potter, Curator of Limerick Museum said
