Limerick is set to host an array of exciting events for Cruinniú na nÓg 2025, Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children and young people, taking place on Saturday, 07 June. This year’s celebration will feature a diverse range of activities across the city and county, showcasing creativity through music, visual art, circus, storytelling, film, theatre and more.
Cruinniú na nÓg is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme, in partnership with 31 local authorities and RTÉ. Limerick City and County Council has worked with Limerick-based creatives, artists, professional bodies, cultural organisations and community groups to organise and deliver creative activities and workshops.
Limerick Gets Creative
Cruinniú na nÓg 2025 in Limerick will feature an exciting variety of events, including a 48-hour film challenge, circus arts exploration, printmaking workshops, sensory-friendly poster making, and engaging storytime sessions with sock puppets. Young artists can create pop art portraits at the Hunt Museum, while budding musicians can join the Irish Chamber Youth Orchestra for workshops and concerts.
The lineup also includes a short film screening by local students, a showcase of creative talents at the Friars Gate Creative Hub, interactive Wonder Walls workshops, live performances, and baby sign language sessions. Additionally, there will be autism-inclusive workshops and a special screening of "Sing Street" along with the 48-hour film challenge shorts.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran emphasised the importance of celebrating creativity, saying:
“Cruinniú na nÓg is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to explore their creative talents and engage with the arts in a meaningful way. As Mayor, I am acutely aware of the importance of continuing to deliver on the ambition we have for the arts and creative sector in Limerick, as outlined in the More for Limerick programme. It will be these young people, future generations and their children who will benefit the most from the seeds we are now sowing. We are proud to support such a diverse range of activities that highlight the vibrant cultural landscape of Limerick.”
Priomh Comhairleoir, Cllr Dan McSweeney, encouraged young people to participate in the events and get creative:
“Ireland is the only country in the world to have a national day dedicated to celebrating young people’s creativity. I urge all young people to take advantage of this unique opportunity to explore their creative potential and enjoy the fantastic events on offer all across Limerick.”
Etain McCooey, Arts Officer and Creative Ireland Coordinator at Limerick City and County Council highlighted the efforts of local groups in fostering creativity among young people:

Minister for Arts, Culture, Communications, Media and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD officially launched Cruinniú na nÓg 2025, at King John’s Castle in Limerick on 09 May. This all-island celebration, taking place on Saturday, June 7th, will feature over 1,000 free events across the country.
