Limerick City & County Council is congratulating the Limerick senior footballers following their victory in the Division Four National Football League final at the weekend.
The team, led by Jimmy Lee, overcame Wexford at Croke Park by 3-11 to 0-18 following a see-saw battle.
Limerick will now ply their trade in Division 3 of the National Football League in 2026.
The team will now turn their attentions to their Munster Senior Football Championship campaign, which begins with a quarter final clash against Cork at the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, commented:
"Congratulations to our senior footballers, led by Jimmy Lee, on their victory in securing Division 4 of the National Football League. It shows that Limerick is truly a force to be reckoned with, both on and off the field! Winning such a tight game is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication, and lifting silverware in Croke Park makes it all the sweeter. I have no doubt that greater accomplishments lie ahead for this talented group. I wish the team the very best of luck in their Munster championship encounter with Cork this weekend and would encourage as many supporters as possible to back the team in the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday evening.”
